Bikini Was First Released on July 5th, 1946

July 5th is the day the swimsuit “bikini” was released first time by the French fashion designer, Louise Lear in 1946.

The “Crossroad Operation” was held by the United States on Bikini Atoll, Marshall Islands, on July 1st, 1946, which was the first atomic bomb test after World War II.

Four days later, on July 5th, Louis announced that the new swimsuit was named Bikini, after its appearance and impact of the atomic bomb.
