Christmas Eve Used To Meant ”25th Evening”

December 24th is Christmas Eve.

The origin of Eve is “evening”.

Originally Christmas Eve means “the evening of the Christmas day”, not the day before Christmas.

In the Jewish calendar and the ecclesiastical calendar, the dates used to change at sunset, so after sunset of 24th is already 25th.

In modern times, even in Christian countries, there are many occasions treat whole 24th as the Christmas Eve.
