International Literacy Day: September 8th
September 8th is International Literacy Day.
It was declared in 1965 by The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).
It’s now said that one-fifth of the world’s people can’t read or write.
On this day, various ceremonies are held around the world in order to assert the importance of literacy.
