Kamehameha the Great unified the state of Hawaii.
In 1871, King Kamehameha V designated this day as a national holiday in Hawaii, United States.
The day will feature a large floral parade in Honolulu, Oahu, as well as an event at the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C., the capital.
