The “London Marathon” was held for the first time on March 29, 1981.
The London Marathon began under the leadership of former Olympic track and field champion Chris Brasher.
The first participants were 7,747.
The number of participants has increased year by year, and now it has become a global marathon event where more than 40,000 people are entitled to participate.
