Roald Amundsen Reached The Antarctica: December 14
December 14th, 1911 is the day Roald Amundsen reached the Antarctica.
On this day in 1911, the fleet led by Norwegian navigator Roald Amundsen reached the Antarctica for the first time in the world.
To celebrate their achievement, December 14th was establish as the anniversary for that.
By the way, in Japan, there is a different anniversary of Antarctica.
Since Japan’s “Showa Base” was built in Antarctica on January 29th in 1957, this day was chosen in Japan.
