August 1st is World Breastfeeding Day.
It was established by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) in 1992 with the support of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
This is to commemorate the announcement by the WHO and UNICEF of the “Innocenti Declaration” on the same day in 1990, advocating the importance of breastfeeding.
Every August 1st is commemorative day and the first week is designated as “World Breastfeeding Week”.
And various events are held all over the world.
